The Role.

We are looking for a skilled and motivated Technician – Workshop Service to join our team at our Melbourne West branch and deliver high-quality workshop-based servicing, repairs, and maintenance for forklift and access equipment. This hands-on role involves performing a wide range of service work including preventative maintenance, repairs, diagnostics, and overhauls within a modern workshop environment. From our workshop facility, you will work across a broad range of tasks each day. This can include preventative maintenance and minor repairs through to more in-depth troubleshooting and complete equipment overhauls, depending on operational needs. You will play a key role in ensuring equipment is maintained safely, efficiently, and to a high standard to support customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities.

In this role you will be responsible for the following.

  • Service, repair, and maintain customer forklifts and lifting equipment (up to 7.0T for light equipment and 10.0T+ for heavy equipment) including trusted, reliable brands like Caterpillar Lift Trucks, Konecranes, and Haulotte.
  • Perform planned maintenance (PMP) and inspections on forklift and access equipment within the workshop environment.
  • Carry out repairs, troubleshooting, and diagnostic work to identify and resolve equipment issues.
  • Complete equipment overhauls to restore machinery to operational standards.
  • Assist with new machine builds and modifications as required.
  • Ensure all servicing and repair work is completed safely and in line with company procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe workshop environment at all times.
  • Complete accurate service records and documentation for all work carried out.
  • Support workshop operations and team members to ensure efficient workflow and service delivery.

Qualifications and Experience.

The successful candidate will ideally have the following qualifications and experience.

  • Trade qualification as an Automotive, Mobile Plant Mechanic, or Heavy Diesel Mechanic is essential.
  • Strong experience working with heavy diesel or large-scale mobile equipment.
  • Solid mechanical aptitude with strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills with a professional approach.
  • Electrical and hydraulic experience is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining high safety and quality standards.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a practical, hands-on approach.
