Australia is already well known for having some of the world’s most dangerous animals and spine tingling creepy crawlies. Saying that it’s not every day that a 50-tonne fire breathing spider makes its presence known in the country down under. For the first time in Australia, Perth will again play host to yet another spectacular event – Arcadia. The immersive event commences tonight at the new Elizabeth Quay and will run over the next three nights.
The 50-tonne spider that is the centrepiece of the Arcadia show, is constructed entirely of recycled military machinery and industrial components, including jet engines. To put quite simply it’s an engineering marvel.
To construct such a colossal structure for the event, United was again asked to play our part by supplying all the necessary forklift and access equipment. In total, United supplied a CAT forklift and Haulotte telehandler to move all the event equipment into place, as well as three Haulotte articulated boom lifts needed by the workers responsible for erecting the huge spider.
United is proud to again be chosen to supply forklift and access equipment for such a large event. It was only last year that Perth hosted The Giants, for which United supplied a CAT forklift that was used for the whole event. Go Team United!
